From kart
to Champion

Every Formula 1 driver has a beginning and for our British heroes Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, George Russell, and Ollie Bearman, that beginning was karting. It’s where they learned to race, to win, and to dream. Now here at Silverstone, the home of British motorsport, we’re preparing to offer that same opportunity to the next generation.

LEWIS HAMILTON

Lewis Hamilton began karting at eight years old, quickly dominating the UK scene. His early success caught the eye of McLaren, and by 13, he was part of their driver development program. The rest is history: seven world titles and a legacy that began on a karting track.

LANDO NORRIS

Lando Norris started karting at seven and rose rapidly through the ranks, winning the CIK-FIA KF World Championship in 2014. His karting finesse and race craft are still evident every time he takes to the track for McLaren.

GEORGE RUSSELL

Few drivers have seen success in a kart like George Russell. British Cadet Championship winner, British Open Championship winner, Super One British Champion, the only driver to win back-to-back CIK-FIA European K3 titles, and much more. His calm, calculated style was forged in the heat of karting battles across Europe.

OLLIE BEARMAN

Ollie Bearman, the youngest of the group and a rising star with Haas, began karting at seven and quickly made a name for himself with wins in the Kartmasters British Grand Prix and the IAME Euro Series. His karting number, 87, still features on his Formula One car, a nod to his roots.
